Yesterday, awaiting my procedure a nurse asked about my health and the challenges it means I face daily. I then explained to her itโ€™s why I come here and undergo the same procedure every 4 months. To which she asked me, โ€œDoes it get any easier?โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s a tough question,โ€ I replied. โ€œIn some ways, yes, but in others no.โ€

I then explained the following to herโ€ฆ

There are times, especially after tough weeks physically, when mentally itโ€™s really hard for me to come back here.

But, in saying that, you definitely get more resilient.

You learn more about yourself every time. How you are going to get yourself through this. What your mind needs to get through this.

Alone time.
Journaling.
A book set in a make-believe world.
A good playlist.
The new episodes of Bridgertonโ€ฆ

Whatever it may be.
In the past 11 days, Iโ€™ve been to the hospital 7 times, and am currently recovering from a procedure I had done yesterday.

Nearly 8 years post-spinal injury, enduring chronic pain, extreme muscle weakness, and fatigue, nerve damage, countless hospital admissions, ER visits, frequent procedures and surgery planning. I can say itโ€™s not about it getting easier, itโ€™s about you getting stronger.

Obstacles life throw at you are not roadblocks, they are stepping stones to help you gain a greater understanding of yourself.

Every challenge has strength within it. Tough times make you stronger, smarter, and better.

Shifting my mind over the years from โ€œI canโ€™t go through this againโ€ to โ€œI donโ€™t want to go through this again but I know I canโ€ has helped me find strength.

In the face of adversity, let resilience be your greatest weapon and perseverance be your guiding light.
